This picture has been circulating all over social media and I have more to add:
Delete all period cycle tracking apps off your phone today.
Do not tell anyone why you want to take your trip, especially over text/apps.
Do not tell anyone the real state/destination of your trip.
Have everyone on your trip turn off their phones. Use written directions or a burner phone. Do not use burner phone to open any personal apps. Dispose of after trip.
Only use cash while purchasing ANYTHING on your trip.
Take “vacation” photos to post later. Be cautious of geo-tags/only post screenshots of the original photos.
Some people might say this is being extra or overly precautious, but this really is the reality we are facing. People have been imprisoned with murder charges in certain states- some for literal miscarriages. If you are a person that ends up in this situation, the state can and will use your data against you as evidence in court. Do not leave a paper trail. If they want to treat us like criminals, we’re gonna move like criminals.
[ID: a cropped photo with black text, speaking in regards to the reproduction rights being outruled. It reads: “If you are a person who suddenly finds yourself with a need to go camping in another state, a state friendly towards camping, just know I will happily drive you, support you, and not talk about the camping trip to anyone ever. If you know, you know.” END ID]
If you’re like me and have ADHD (or struggle with any of this) then getting out the door in the morning is a pain and a half. No matter how well you know what you need to do to get places on time, it’s hard. Things get forgotten, things just don’t feel important enough to do, time isn’t real. I get it, so here’s a list of things I’ve learned that keep me getting out the door at least somewhat on time and with the things I need.
Have a single (small) bag for your essentials. You do not leave the house without this bag. Ever.
I recommend a crossbody bag that’s about the size of your hand spread out. The right size to hold the basic things you need without weighing you down. My dad uses a vest with a million pockets instead of a bag, which is also an option.
Things that go in this bag:
Debit/credit cards and cash. Always have some cash on you for emergencies if you can. Checkbook if you have one.
Driver’s license, health card card, student/work ID if you need that, etc.
Medication for the day (I like to pull out a week of my meds on Sundays)
Extra charging cable + battery pack for phone/headphones
Keys!! Car keys/house keys go in one pocket. That is the key pocket. The keys always go back in the key pocket. Attach a small charm that’s physically distinctive to each key so you can grab the right one without looking.
Multi-tool/knife if you carry one.
If you are sexually activity, I recommend having a pocket with a few condoms/dental dams/lube/etc. Make sure that they won’t get rubbed around. Putting them in a plastic bag for extra protection is a good idea.
Anything else you need every day regardless of where you’re going; lotion/hand sanitizer/protein bar/etc.
Everything goes in the bag. If you take something out of the bag, it goes right back in the bag the moment you are done using it.
If you are at home the bag goes by the door. You shouldn’t be able to exit your home without seeing the bag. If you can literally hang it on doorknob, I recommend that.
If you are outside of your home, your bag does not leave your body. It is a part of you now.
This is why I recommend having a bag vs a clutch you hold or keeping your cards in your phone. Phones are sometimes put places or handed to people. The Bag is Not. The bag lives on your body. That’s also why I recommend keeping it small/crossbody style, to reduce the temptation to remove it.
If you’re in school, you may have a backpack in addition to your bag. Same rules apply. Everything you need goes in the backpack, and if you aren’t using it, then it goes right back in the backpack. Finished your homework? It goes in the backpack. Done with your calculator for the evening? In the backpack. There are no other surfaces, only backpack and bag. Same thing for if you use a backpack/messenger bag for work.
I recommend keeping your
essential’s bag separate from your backpack/messenger bag. You will want to leave the house for things other than work/school at some point, and will not want to lug around your big bag. That’s what the small bag is for.
Do things the night before.
I dunno about anyone else, but things are a million times easier to do late at night than at like 6 am when I’m struggling to walk in a straight line let alone be a functional human being.
Do you need to bring lunch? Make it the night before. Put as much of it in your backpack ahead of time as possible. Or at least in line of sight of the door.
Fill up your water bottle, make sure you’ve got meds for tomorrow in your bag, make sure you’ve put everything back in your bag.
Can you prep breakfast the night before? Do it. Remember, any food is a valid breakfast food as long as you eat it.
Need to remember something in the morning? Can you put it in your bag/backpack the night before? If so, do!
Set out your clothes for the morning, shower at night, set all your electronics to charge, etc.
When you wake up, listen to music first thing.
Okay, so this is a few things rolled into one. You need to make sure your headphones and phone are charging within reach of your bed. When you wake up in the morning, the very first thing you do is grab your headphones and start listening to a high energy playlist.
It’s hard to go back to sleep when there’s Exciting Moving Music in your ears. This will help convince your body to get up.
Keep listening to the high energy music as you do the things you need to do.
Set more than one alarm.
You have your ‘you need to get up alarm’, but consider a second alarm for ‘hey, you need to get out the door now’.
Also, consider using a physical alarm clock that’s across your room, so you have to get up to turn it off. The more annoying, the more motivating for you to actually get up.
Be kind to yourself.
Don’t start your morning by beating yourself, don’t start off insulting yourself for having forgotten something or yelling at yourself to get up.
Patience, and steady attempts will build up habits that make this easier and easier. You’ll still make mistakes sometimes, and that’s okay. Be kind to yourself and keep trying. Try to find ways to make things easier for yourself. You’ll figure it out with time.
Okay I saw this immediately went OH SHIT I NEED THAT and went to do mine and remembered a thing IF YOU HAVE PERIODS PUT A LITTLE BAG IN THERE WITH PADS AND TAMPONS AND MEDICINE never again having to ask for a teacher for a pad
Yes, absolutely! I keep ibuprofen and pads on me at all times! Even if you don’t have a period or aren’t expecting yours any time soon, it can be a good idea to carry a few extra pads around in case a friend needs them!
john boyega being honest about the racism of disney star wars in his GQ cover story is so important and unbelievably brave for him to do. disney could easily blacklist him for his comments and have done so to others over less- we gotta make sure we support him, his career, and message as much as possible. he could potentially get so much industry retaliation from speaking truth to power like this
FUCK the mouse and fuck how they treated john boyega- it is racism. believe him and don’t be quiet about it.

jacob blake was shot seven times in the back by cops in kenosha, wisconsin, on 23 august 2020. he is currently in critical condition and fighting for his life. here are a few links to support him and aid the pursuit of justice:
god this is a big ask but I really wish there were like….. a site where you could plug in your state/district/whatever and tick some boxes on issues you prioritize and then the site would give you a rundown of the potential candidates in your area and where they stand on those issues in like….. clean simple bullet points. gimme the cliffnotes, I literally do not have the time or energy to comb through god knows how many articles and shit to figure out who to support, just tell me what their stance is on X, Y, and Z, and that’s gonna have to be enough.
It goes through who’s on your ballot and explains things like that based on your address.
this is really great. it gives you bullet points on what each candidate has said and done on each issue.
very illuminating, frankly, seeing the candidate’s own words and actions. for instance, under ‘defense/veterans’ the republican candidates almost always say something about a well-funded military, and the democrats almost always say something about getting veterans the medical care they need. makes it pretty obvious that republicans don’t care about soldiers once they’re done with them.
1. Check your Voter registration to make sure everything is up to date. If you can, request a Mail-In Ballot. I live in CO, where all elections are Mail-In only now, so I get one anyway.
2. Fill out your ballot per the instructions on your Ballot. Some Notes:
Read Instructions thoroughly, and fill out your Ballot in private.
Do NOT post pictures of your Ballot as this may invalidate it. DO Post pictures of your “I Voted” sticker.
Make sure to vote for all the offices up for election- as important as the presidential election is, your mayor, governer, local school board and sherrif have a MUCH bigger impact on your immediate safety and quality of life. Google your candidates, look up the Leauge of Women Voter’s Guides for a reliably Impartial rundown of your local candidates.
Remember also that it is better to have someone in office that is only moderately incompotent, than it is to have someone that actively wants you dead. It is the first step to having someone worthwhile next time.
If you wanted a third party option, your local elections are the best place to do this- my own city council has several Green Party members and it got me city-sponsored single-stream recycling! Its also moving the state legislature significantly farther left.
3. INSTEAD OF MAILING IT- LOOK UP WHERE YOUR BALLOT DROP-OFF LOCATIONS ARE.
They’re boxes you drive or walk or bus or bike or whatever up to and drop your ballot in, and the elections officials will have it that evening. Pros of Ballot Drop-Off:
Can be turned in the same day you reccive your ballot, if you want to get this over with ASAP
Open 24/7, so you can drop it off whenever
Absolutely guaranteed to get your vote counted, regardless of what Donald does with the Post Office.
No waiting in line
No exposing yourself to the coronavirus
Most cities will have several ballot Drop-Off locations, at places like the grocery store, the county courthouse, city hall, at high schools etc. Google your town or county name and “Ballot Drop Off Locations” and it’ll give you directions even.
Absolutely Save the USPS, but this is the BEST way to make sure your vote gets counted this
the USPS is now REMOVING MAIL SORTING MACHINES. the shit is hitting the fan. i need to reiterate that signing petitions or texting a number that sends an email isn’t going to cut it. dont send complaints to louis dejoy’s office or any bullshit like that. don’t waste your time. people who live in the US need to CALL their Senators and House reps. you need to post about this constantly. you need to make a big deal about this with friends and family. get them do it too.
if you want to save the USPS i am BEGGING you call your representatives directly to DEMAND they co-sponsor and vote for:
1. the Delivering for America Act (call HOUSE reps). This attempts to reverse the bullshit Trump is doing.
2. USPS Fairness Act (call SENATORS). This is a MAJOR repeal of the bullshit the Bush admin and the Republicans did in 2006 that fucked over the USPS in the first place.
3. HEROES Act (call SENATORS). This is the coronavirus omnibus that includes IMMEDIATE USPS relief. Make it clear you want the USPS portion to be included.
